Course Objective:

 

This course aims at providing the senior-level under-graduate BICSE/BEE students an introduction to the theory and practical know-how about the Advanced Communication Systems such as Cellular Mobile and Satellite Communications-one of the fastest growing field in the engineering world. The basic and under-lying technical concepts, which are essential for the design, implementation, and research in the Radio Communication Systems, will be presented in an easy to understand way while discussing practical examples and solutions to some real-world problems. On successful completion of this course, the students will be able to understand Radio Wave Propagation and Propagation Models, Fading Channel and Types of Fading, Modulation Techniques used in Wireless Communications, Access Techniques for Wireless Communications, Radio Link Models and Link Budget Analysis. They will be able to apply these concepts for Satellite Communication System and Cellular Mobile Communication System Design.

Grading Policy:

 

1.       At least Five Assignments [5%] will be issued and each will be due one week after its issue date unless otherwise specified. Absolutely no late submissions will be allowed.

2.       At least Five10/15 minute Quizzes [10%] will be conducted, one each in the class, most probably, on the day of submission of each Assignment.

3.       Class Project [10%]- Groups of 3-4 students will conduct research projects and submit a Project Reports within 4/5-weeks time from the issue date. Presentation of these projects will be must to get the credit.

4.       Class Participation and Technical Discussions [5%] for those who are regular and participate actively in class discussions (technical only)

5.       Two One-Hour Test [30%] during 7th and 14th weeks.

6.       Final Test [40%] in 22nd week.It is mandatory to maintain at least 75% class attendance to sit in the Final Test.
